According to Variety, Jack Dorsey stated to the company’s investors:
“No one deserves to be the target of abuse on Twitter. We haven’t been good enough at ensuring that’s the case, and we need to do better.”
Wow. Talk about an honest convo!
The Ghostbusters actress lit a fire in Jack’s belly after she specifically called out the company for its policies following the countless bigoted messages she was sent from users. However, it didn’t take Dorsey long to respond to her call for help as he’s since cracked down on several users, and even banned conservative columnist Milo Yiannopoulos from the site.
While the tech executive defended the site’s users right to free speech, he also noted:
“We are not, and never will be, a platform that shows people only part of what’s happening. Abuse is not civil discourse.”
Not to mention, Jack also stood by the Saturday Night Live star in a powerful statement released by the company last week. Overall, we’re just happy to hear that Twitter is taking serious steps to make the internet a fun and safe place again. Bravo!
