Say goodbye to your headphones!
Apple is expected to reveal the next version of their iPhone in the next couple months, and according to industry insiders and tech talkers, one of the changes coming is VERY noticeable: bye bye, headphones!
Apparently, something that has been rumored for weeks is actually true — Apple is not going to have a headphone jack on the iPhone 7, instead opting to remove the 3.5 mm jack from the bottom of its newest product.
Multiple reviewers have allegedly gotten their hands on new iPhone prototypes (like the leaked screenshot of one, above), and it seems to confirm the rumors of no headphone jack!
For new users, a special adapter will be included with the newest version of the iPhone rather than the traditional pair of white ear buds, and Business Insider specifically reports more about what the adapter may be (below):
“A Lightning-to-audio dongle is included with the iPhone 7 — not a pair of Lightning headphones.”
Obviously, this news means one of two things: carry around an adapter wherever you go (boo), or use wireless headphones, likely something Apple wants to push out like they did with their newer Lightning port in the first place a while back.
This is for sure going to drastically affect the headphone market, as the 3.5 mm standard is used nearly universally and so many other companies produce headphones for working out, travel, listening to music, etc., etc.
At the end of the day, we’ll just have to see what ends up happening when Apple finally makes an announcement — it appears we are just a few weeks away, after all.
What do U think — would you go shopping for a pair of wireless headphones?! Or are you hesitant to make this change, and just want the traditional headphone port??
