Forget Michael Jordan. Now we all want to see LaVar Ball take on Joel Embiid in a game of one-on-one. Or wrestling. Or anything, really.
Because the best rivalry in basketball is now Embiid vs. Ball after the Sixers big man declared “Man, f–k LaVar Ball!” in an Instagram Live post Tuesday.
The social media sting is the latest in the back-and-forth between the clown prince of sports dads and the Sixers process truster. It all started during the NBA Draft when, after son Lonzo Ball was selected by the Lakers No. 2 overall, LaVar Ball guaranteed the Lakers would make the playoffs.
Those comments did not sit well with the Sixers’ Ben Simmons, who tweeted “crazy pills” in response to Ball’s latest outrageous comments.
Embiid later responded with his own tweet, begging Simmons to “Please dunk on (Lonzo Ball) so hard that his daddy runs on the court to save him.”
LaVar Ball clapped back at the pair of brittle 76ers on a Philadelphia radio show last week. He did not disappoint.
“When you don’t win, and don’t even make the playoffs, and don’t even stay on the court long enough, that’s the best thing you can do — is tweet and make some stuff,” Ball said on 97.5 The Fanatic. “Ain’t nobody else doing that, because they’re working on their games in the gym. These guys ain’t played a game, (are) always hurt, and (are) at the bottom of the totem pole. So guess what? Get your (rear ends) off the goddamn Tweeter, and get in the gym.”
Presumably, in response to that, Embiid went on Instagram this week and blurted out something a lot of people have been saying for months: “Man, f–k LaVar Ball.”
We eagerly await Lonzo’s dad’s response.
