Catelynn Lowell is such a strong woman!
Back in March, the Teen Mom star entered an Arizona treatment facility to get help for her postpartum depression. And now that she’s been out for a few months, the lovely lady is opening up about the emotional process.
The 24-year-old dished to People about the moment she realized she should seek help, explaining that it wasn’t exactly an easy choice to make:
“I think it was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to come to, but I need to do for myself and my family. It was really just one day where I was like, ‘You know what, I think I need more help than what I’m getting here. I need time to focus on myself,’ and I kind of just was like ‘I need to do it.’ And I did it.”
Thankfully, the MTV personality had a strong support system in her husband Tyler Baltierra, who looked after their baby girl Novalee Reign:
“He was very supportive. He was like ‘Alright. I think it will be good for you and don’t worry about anything here – I got it and everything will be fine. Just go focus on yourself and don’t hide anything. Don’t worry about protecting anybody.'”
We just love that the Michigan native’s main man had her back, because that emotional reassurance was probably a huge help.
But it was really their darling daughter who was Miz Lowell’s major motivation:
“My thing then was that I just needed to get help. I didn’t want [Nova] to grow up and remember that ‘Oh, my mom had really bad episodes of being depressed all the time.’ Or her having to worry about me; I didn’t want her to worry about her mom. So that was my biggest fear. I needed to get this taken care of now before she gets any older.”
Well, it seems like her month-long stay at the facility helped quite a bit!
The reality star told the mag that she’s “feeling great” since her return home in April, and is enjoying fun moments with her beautiful one-year-old:
“Her favorite word is ‘no.’ She now stands on steps and she performs and sings for us. She just loves to sing and dance – she loves music and she talks pretty well, I think. She says a lot of words and communicates well and she always says please and thank you, but she’s also very sassy.”
Awww! So cute!
And if you want more about Catelynn, Tyler, and Nova, Teen Mom OG returns to MTV on Monday at 9 p.m. ET for season 6’s 2-hour premiere!
