Aaron Judge made no objection to the notion that Jackie Bradley Jr.’s home run-robbing catch Sunday night is worthy of respect.
Or, as the Yankees’ star rookie put it on Twitter using a GIF of Derek Jeter’s nephew Jalen, “RE2PECT.”
Following the Yankees’ 3-0 loss to the Red Sox in the back end of a doubleheader at Fenway Park, Judge replied to a tweet from Ryon Healy, the A’s infielder and fellow victim of Bradley Jr.’s handiwork.
Healy tweeted at Judge, “Dear @Judge44 I know that feeling… @JackieBradleyJr just stop it!!!!!”
Judge responded an hour later with a clip of Jalen simply tipping his cap to his retiring uncle.
Healy fell victim to the Red Sox centerfielder’s stellar defense on May 19, when Bradley Jr. snagged what would have been a walk-off home run for Oakland in the bottom of the ninth. The A’s went on to win on a game-winning homer in the next inning.
With the Yanks down 3-0 Sunday night in the eighth, Judge sent a David Price fastball to the deepest part of the ballpark in right-centerfield, but Bradley Jr. lined up the shot and leaped to make the catch, saving two runs.
Judge, who went 1-for-18 with six strikeouts in the four-game split with the Sox, walked back to the dugout in silence.
But Judge’s late-night verdict found that Bradley Jr. is guilty of outstanding glovework in the first degree.
