This is so sad.
It appears that 16 people may be dead after a hot air balloon went down on Saturday morning in Texas, just north of the city of Austin — and now, investigators are hurriedly piecing together the factors that caused the crash.
The wreck allegedly occurred around 8:00 a.m. local time on Saturday morning, with the first calls coming into cops very soon thereafter.
The balloon, reporters believe, was having a fire issue on board when it went down.
All accounts to this point do believe that none of the 16 people on it have survived the crash. Just awful.
As you can see (above), reporters are already on the scene.
The FAA and NTSB are there, too — investigating the crash’s cause and determining what exactly happened.
